Why we love Fendi

There is something so fun and frivolous abut Fendi and its bags and accessories.  The bright colours, quirky designs and materials make it so captivating. Every season the fashion house delivers a unique and hugely identifiable collection, full of colour and quirk.

While it’s wacky creations are certainly not for everyone it does have a colourful cool factor that never fails to fascinate the fashion crowd and street style photographers around the world.

History of the Fendi

Fendi originally started as a leather goods and fur business by young entrepreneur Adele Casagrande in Rome in 1918. After marrying husband Edoardo Fendi, the luxury fashion duo established the now famous fashion house and later passed on the business to their five daughters who hired Karl Lagerfeld as Creative Director in 1965.

Fendi Favourites

Since then, the fashion house has developed a cult following among fashionable women and has seen its fair share of It bags.

Fendi Baguette

In 1997  the Baguette Bag was launched. Designed to be carried under the arm like a French baguette it was offered in hundreds of colors, patterns, materials, and textures.

This Baguette bag was seen on the arms of Madonna and Naomi Campbell and even had a part in the movie The Devil Wears Prada. It was also made famous by Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and City,

Do you remember when Carrie Bradshaw was mugged for her Baguette handbag?

Fendi Spy Bag

How about the large Spy bags? They have been re-invented hundreds of times, in different colours, leathers, materials and were a staple on the arms of the Olsen twins, Hilton sisters as well as Nicole Richie from 2005 onwards.

Currently the monster design with eye cutouts featured on bags, shoes and jumpers are the latest Fendi must have items.  And it’s hard to miss the fun bag bug charms  – there is even one of the man himself – the Karlito charm!

If you don’ t have the confidence or desire to don Fendi head to toe or carry one of the quirky bags, you can still get the Fendi look by adding one of the bag bugs to one of their more classic bag such as the 3jour bag .
