Style Crush: Queen Letizia of Spain
The immaculate Queen Letizia of Spain is our latest Style Crush and the second in our Princess series. Just like our feature on Queen Rania of Jordan, Queen Letizia regularly features on the lists of best dressed and most beautiful in the world.
Before her marriage to Prince Felipe of Spain in 2004, Queen Letizia was one of Spain’s most recognisable figures on television as a newscaster on Spanish television. After completing her masters in journalism, Queen Letizia started out as a professional reporter before making the smooth transition into television.
Her achievements include covering the invasion of Iraq, US presidential elections as well as the September 11 attacks. Closer to home she was named winner of the Madrid Press Association’s Larra Award for most accomplished journalist under 30. Fittingly it was on assignment about an oil spillage in Northern Spain where Queen Letizia met the then Prince Felipe and they fell in love. The rest as they say is history.
Queen Letizia’s style is elegant, sophisticated and timeless. As with all modern royalty, the she is committed to her own charities and Royal duties separate to the King. Her style reflects the strong, intelligent and driven person that the Spanish public have grown up with and adore.
Lady In Red
Not many people can pull off wearing the colour red however in in Queen Letizia’s case, this colour suits her complexion and colouring. With such a bold hue, Queen Letizia keeps her jewellery minimal and uses a medium shade lip colour.
At the beginning of the year Queen Letizia lopped off her rich brown locks into a chic severe bob. We love this style on her as it accentuates her strong jawline, highlights her beautiful long neck and is rather striking whilst being conservative. Talk about making a statement!
Knowing what works
Queen Letizia has a good understanding of how to best style her slim body shape. She prefers high waisted pants with blousers tucked in, and her choice of outwear is usually a sharp looking blazer or jacket. Accessories are virtually non exisitent bar an understated bag and fine jewellery. When it comes to skirts and dresses Queen Letizia’s hem of choice is either on or just above the knee. With gorgeous legs like her she has the enviable choice of choosing loose fitting or pencil style sillhouettes. Black and white feature heavily in Queen Letizia’s wardrobe, as do neutral colours, and pops of colour such as red, emerald and navy.
With her successful career in television, drive, intelligence as well as her commitment to charity and royal duties, this Queen is the perfect representative for the Spanish royal family. We also love her chic and classic style and the way she represents herself. Not sure about you but but this is one style crush that has me pondering a new makeover!
