First look at what's new

Scanlan Theodore Autumn Winter 2015

As we head in to the southern hemispheres Autumn/Winter, Style AND Tonic is reviewing its favourite Australian designer collections.

As huge Scanlan Theodore fans we were very much looking forward to seeing Autumn Winter 2015 range.

Famous for its well-crafted, streamlined designs and beautiful fabrics,  this seasons collections delivered on every account. The range includes suiting, evening and cocktail dresses, leather pants and jackets and Scanlan Theodore’s signature crepe knit as well as scuba. The colour palette is grey, deep maroon and black.

This season Scanlan Theodore has loads to offer the business woman with beautiful suits in crepe knits, leathers and wools. Fitted and peplum jackets that finish at the waist are complimented with pencil skirts or A-line styles.  Scanlan Theodore suits are chic enough for corporate wear, and work incredibly well when paired with blouses and shirts. However, what we love most is that each piece can also be worn separately, and that the suits looks equally good at evening work functions.

The (Perfect) Little Black Dress

If you are looking for a little black dress then you will most likely find it in this range.  Fitted styles in flattering fabrics such as Scuba are perfect for filling that staple in your closet. Scuba is great for creating an even surface and hiding any bumps that you may not want to highlight.  The three different styles compliment many body shapes including small and big busted women. We were also pleased to see a sleeve option and don’t be afraid to  alter the length to suit your leg shape and proportions.

There is lots of leather this season with a variety of different pants styles such as short culotes, boyfriend and the fitted leggings.  Jackets include some stunning fitted jackets as well as biker style and leather and shearling coats. Leather has become such a staple in women’s wardrobes in the last 5-7 years so we highly recommend adding this texture to your wardrobe rotation.

Crepe Knit

This fabric has to be one of Style AND Tonic’s favourite textures.  Nobody does a crepe as well as Scanlan Theodore! The crepe knit creates such a lovely structure on the body and they instantly add a polished finish to every outfit.

Beautiful feathers in black and grey are lovely feature in the range and is a classic investment piece. There is no better way to make an elegant statement than by wearing delicate feathers. Unlike fur and leather, feathers also suit complexions where harsh block colours and fabrics may wash someone out. There are short fitted and fuller midi styles as well as more evening style dresses with feathers. The silk blouses are gorgeous and can be dressed up or down adding a statement to any outfit.

Over the past few years Scanlan Theodore have been growing their range of leather good and this season there are some beautiful bucket bags (made famous by Mansur Gavriel) and totes all in beautiful fine leather and crafted in Italy.  There are also a great range of boots this season and pumps that compliment the Scanlan Theodore garments.

Sarah’s Top 3

“I love the black trench coat because it’s a great staple and has a lovely feel.  The feather blouse will look great with all the black in my wardrobe and I’ll wear it with leather pants and heels.  I love the black top because it versatile and will be great for those days when i want to look polished and be comfortable.”

Angela’s Top 3

“I love the gorgeous long tux jacket. It covers all the right areas and looks ultra chic when paired with both pants or denim. Speaking of pants, the Aterlier trouser is a winner for me. The cropped style suits my proportions and I would pair it with a tucked in blouse, knit or V-neck t-shirt, depending on the occassion. I’m also loving any Marsala inspired colours so this pencil skirt caught my eye. Normally maroon colours don’t suit me but I love wearing them on the lower half of my body. I’d pair this colour with beige, black or navy for the perfect A/W look.”
