Could there be a more comfortable summer shoe option right now than the Espadrille? Available in many different styles, colours and fabrics, there is plenty to choose from and with designers such as Chanel and Saint Laurent  all offering their own collections, there is a pair for every occasion.

Originally made in the Pyrenees Mountains, they have been in continuous production across the Mediterranean for over 700 years.  They were made popular in the 40’s when  Grace Kelly, Rita Hayworth and Audrey Hepburn wore them as their go to resort wear shoe.  In the 60′s, Yves Saint Laurent revolutionised the Espadrille by adding a bit of height the wedge espadrilles was born.

Today, the Espadrille is as popular as ever and you can buy them in slip-ons, lace-ups, platforms, wedges and  slides.

For a relaxed summer feel, try Espadrilles with shorts  and a loose shirt or a light weight summer shift dress.

For a more dressed up resort look, choose the wedge or platform Espadrille with a dress or kaftan.

For an urban look try the leather Espadrilles with skinny jeans and shirt
